It’s funny being an atheist for so long. Five years ago, if you told anyone you were an atheist, you would get kicked off the room. People who have been atheists for such a longe time (I’m 20, and I am atheist for at least 8 years, but I have always been into this world cause my dad is an atheist) KNOW how it feels like to have doors closed on you over your lack of beliefs. Years ago, specially if you were a teenager, people would really get pissed with you if you told them you were an atheist. I have an uncle that in fact entered a fight with me (I was 14) because I didn’t share his love for God and shit like that. Nowadays, it’s easy to find people who think like you. It’s easy to be an atheist. It really is. Whoever says it isn’t, is obsviouly new on the atheist scene.
But honestly, make me pissed off to listen that I’m a loser from people who are doing the atheist thing for like, one or two years or less.
You can’t tell me you’re a militant atheist if you never read Dawkins, Douglas Adam, Daniel Danett, Sam harris, Hitchens… You can’t call yourself a militant atheist or any senseless shit like that if you don’t know the Atheist Experience, if you never watched videos of George Carlin or Louis CK, if you never saw stand ups from Bill Maher… I mean, SHIT, I read too much, I talked and discussed too much, I tried to convince people that I’m not bad, or anything like that, TOO much to listen that my opinion sucks. It might suck, but I’m sorry, at least i know what I’m talking about.
I’m sorry if I got to the point where most mature atheists who are not academic people or anything like that, that are NORMAL PEOPLE and atheists realize that you can’t force a whole world to live under the perspective of what, 6% of the population? When you are a mature atheist you just…stop caring. Unless you live on atheism and books and things like that. You just realize that you don’t believe in nothing and that’s all. it does not matter. It also doesn’t mean that you want an religious government, it means that you don’t care about the people who like this kind of shit. It means that you will always make fun of them, and stay far away from them. It also means that you’re making fun of new atheists, who waste their time being the king-of-the-religious-foruns on the internet. Great one champ, you’ve juust had a discussion with a catholic person…I wonder where this is going (answer: nowhere. believe me, I’ve been there).
I’ts funny specially because these people who are new here are so arrogant that they think they can judge you over the opinons that you spent YEARS developing and improving don’t even know the names of famous atheists from their own cities, for instance.
To put an end to this text I’ll say this: Are you an atheist? Nice! Do you hate religion interferring in politics? Throw them a couple cupcakes and let them play. They are dumb. They need this kind of thing to feel that they are doing something for the planet. Don’t get down to the same level as them. You don’t need to scream to the planet that you are an atheist in order to feel good about yourself. Go take care of your own life and, please, read a lot, to the point where you realize that religious dumbness in politics, life and everything else happens everywhere in the world, in the past, in the present and will happen on the future too. You can’t change this because a LOT of people actually depend on this (and that will never make sense to me), but you can look for better ways and better places to live…and remember: not every single law project that shows up on the midia is actually turned into a real law. And a good amount of religion-based-laws never get to be real laws (unless we are talking about laws made in…1800.). It’s not the religion that is bad, or the religious politics that are bad. People are bad. Some are worse than others. They use religion as an excuse to force people to live under their perspective, but if they didn’t have religion, they would find another excuse. Humans are bad. Get over this and you WILL be happier.
